Having been hidden and neglected for over a decade, there has been a considerable renovation programme. The house itself remains a private home.
Rare Species Conservation Centre was created in 2006. It was formerly a small children's zoo and it was taken over and renovated by a small group of people passionate about preserving the World's lesser known rare and endangered species of animal which are often overlooked in other more mainstream zoological establishments.
The Centre forms part of The Rare Species Conservation Trust which is a registered U.K. charity. Apart from running RSCC as an education and captive breeding facility, it also supports and runs various other in-situ conservation projects in the field.

A good tarmac footpath leads from the Quay through the park and follows the river along raised sea defences in the direction of the sea at Sandwich Bay. This path also branches off following a smaller waterway and leads over the Royal St Georges Golf course via the dunes again to the sea.
Working in partnership with Dover Water sports, this is a unique experience with a coastal tour like no other from our base that is on the foreshore of one of the worlds busiest passenger ferry ports.
Explore an area of outstanding natuaral beauty, see the white cliffs from the only place possible the channel. You can book a 1 hour or a longer trip with visits to see the Seals or the famous Goodwin Sands. Good fun for Children and Adults.
The Memorial Building is situated on one of the very few surviving airfields which participated in the Battle of Britain.
RAF Manston was the closest airfield to the enemy coast and bore the brunt of the early Luftwaffe air attacks in the long hot summer of 1940.
Permanently housed at Manston are splendid and original examples of the two World War 2 fighter aircraft which served the Royal Air Force so well in so many areas of battle both at home and overseas.
The Spitfire Memorial Museum Building was officially opened on the 13th June 1981 to house Spitfire TB752 and was the very first building to be erected on any RAF station to house Gate-Guardian aircraft. The building cost some £30,000; the funding for this came from voluntary fund raising efforts and by donation from the people of Thanet.
The Hurricane Memorial Museum Building was officially opened by Dame Vera Lynn on the 7th October 1988 to house Hurricane LF751. The building cost in excess of £100,000, being appreciably larger than the companion building and also provided an area for a sales counter.
The Spitfire and Hurricane are now written into the folklore of this country and it is most fitting that fine examples of these two aircraft are displayed in the County of Kent which witnessed so many of the great air battles of 1940 and the Allied air armadas which followed.
No charge is made for admission but as the Memorial Museum Building is totally self funding a large selection of aviation related items are available for purchase. Donations are most welcome as overheads amount to nearly £2 per visitor.
Sandwich is on the long distance paths of The Saxon Shoreway and The Stour Valley walk. There is also an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways which can be used to create a number of circular walks through the local countryside or around the town itself. We recommend the Ordinance Survey landranger map no. 179, available online from www.ordsvy.gov.uk. Local newsagents and the Sandwich tourist information centre (tel: +44 (0) 1304 613565) also have a good selection of maps and mini-guides which provide suggested routes and information about things of interest along the way. The area is well provided with historical information boards. Sandwich is also on national cycle route 1 connecting Dover and Canterbury and information on the dedicated cycle paths, and recommended cycle routes, which keep the cyclist off the beaten track away from heavy traffic, can be found on the landranger map or via the tourist centre.
