A bad time for a hotel? Not everyone is gloomy.

Matthew Wolfman, proprietor of the Bell in the Kent coast town of Sandwich, says: "The business market has taken a drubbing as finance directors say 'no travel except absolutely necessary, cut out the conference and stay cheaper'. But on the leisure side I'm positive: tough times make a short break a necessity and not a frivolous luxury."
